Adam Ramirez
Adam is majoring in Philosophy, with a minor in Sociology. His research project explores the ethical theory of virtue, it's role in forming class systems, as well as the relationship between the concept of virtue and the growth of inequalities, and class divisions in American society.
Aliya Bimbaum
Aliya is pursuing a master’s degree in Forensic Mental Health Counseling. Her master’s thesis will examine the impact of race on the attorney-juvenile relationship, and the likelihood of acquiescence to attorney plea recommendations.

Anna Yuan Dai
Anna is Criminal Justice BS/MA student with a concentration in Criminal Law & Procedure and a minor in Computer Science. Anna’s research will be focused on Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP) security issues and vulnerabilities with respect to the Internet of Things (IoT) medical healthcare devices
Devon Kaat
Dr. Saul Kassin, mentor
Devon is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Forensic Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics at John Jay. As a second-year scholarship recipient, Devon's research looks into the relative age effect, and the exponentially increasing consequences that disadvantaged students face over time.

Eujene is a graduate student in the Forensic Psychology master’s program. Her research will examine the construct validity of the Levenson Self-Report Psychopathy Scale in Asian Americans.

Fareeha is a senior majoring in Fraud Examination and Financial Forensics.
Her research will study the structures and transformation of financial crimes as an effort to contribute to the currently under researched areas of white-collar and financial crimes.

Fiona Wang
Dr. Saul Kassin, mentor
Fiona is a Forensic Psychology master’s student. Fiona’s research will study police interrogation practices of investigators such as common interrogation techniques by law enforcement officials in Taiwan.
Genevieve Biggers
Genevieve is a junior majoring in History with a minor in English and a second-year scholarship recipient. In looking at institutionalized religious and political persecutions in ancient Greece and Rome, Genevieve followed the basic methodological standards of an academic historian, using primary sources.

Giselle Piedra
Giselle is a senior student majoring in Cellular and Molecular Biology. Her research project will be on the chemotherapy drug Mitomycin-C, and its effects on gene expression in miRNA’s found in Breast cancer cells.

Josephine is currently pursuing her master’s degree in International Crime and Justice. Josephine’s research will be exploring the economic impact of COVID-19 and the ways in which financial hardships expose individuals to human trafficking.

Kimberly Jaramillo
Kimberly is a junior majoring in International Criminal Justice with a double minor in Psychology and Criminology. Kimberly’s research will focus on the migration of Venezuelans to Colombia. Kimberly began her interest in Venezuela’s current political and humanitarian crisis because numerous Venezuelans were fleeing to Colombia.
Maria Plata
Maria is double majoring in Philosophy and English and minoring in Latinx Literature. Using a literary analysis of various Latinx authors, Maria’s research investigates the relationship between Chicana literature and Mexican immigration to the U.S from a philosophical perspective.

Mikelina Fran
Mikelina is majoring in Law and Society with a minor in Anthropology, and is a second-year scholarship recipient. Her research places Albanian immigrant women, who have experienced or experience intimate partner violence, at the center of her study . Mikelina plans to conduct a qualitative study with in-depth interviews of survivors of intimate partner violence.
Miriam Lieber
Miri is a senior student majoring in Forensic Psychology with a minor in Law. As part of her research project, she looks to explore the diffusion of responsibility within grand jurors, and the underlying psychology behind indictment decisions and the law.

Natalia is pursuing a master’s degree in Human Rights. Her research will study the conciliation of Latina mother-students between motherhood and college life to develop strategies that improve their quality of life in the academia.

Nusrat S. Dewan
Nusrat is majoring in Forensic Psychology. As a senior, she will study jurors’ perceptions on juveniles and how it differs depending on the age of the defendant as well as the interrogation techniques applied that might make them more vulnerable and more likely to confess.

Dr. Shweta Jain, mentor
Rose is a senior majoring in Computer Science and Information Security with a minor in Financial Fraud Examination. Rose will be conducting research on maximizing blockchain security used by E-Witness, its impact on performance, and the process in which digital media is exchanged between agencies and journalists.
Tiantian Xia
Tiantian is a Computer Science undergraduate senior. His research will concentrate on understanding how machine learning technology helps to enhance user privacy with IoT's (Internet of Things) devices as well as the role of privacy in Information Technologies (ITs).

Tirza is a second-year graduate student in the Forensic Psychology master’s program. Tirza’s research will focus on studying interrogation techniques used by law enforcement in Israel to further learn about Israeli police practices in interrogations of suspects and compare it to those used in the U.S.
